CHATEAU LARMANDE - SAINT EMILION GRAND CRU CLASSE

WINE ESTATE
• Château LARMANDE is one of the oldest estates of SAINT EMILION, dating back to 1585. The 25 hectares estate includes 19 hectares of vines planted in one block close to the château, the rest of the plots being no more than 6 kilometres away.
• At the end of 1990, Jean MENERET the President and founder of the Association des Grands Crus Classés de Saint EMILION, a well-known figure in the Bordeaux vineyard and who had taken the estate to the highest level, sold Château LARMANDE to the La Mondiale insurance group.
• From this time, a great energy was put on bringing the wines of Château LARMANDE to the forefront of the international stage.
SOIL
• 15% is clay-limestone, 15% is siliceous clay and 70% is made up of ancient sands.
GRAPE VARIETY
• 65 % Merlot .
• 30 % Cabernet Franc.
• 5 % Cabernet Sauvignon.
VINIFICATION
• The alcoholic fermentation lasts 8 to10 days and is preceded by a cold maceration.
• The vatting period is about 4 weeks, the malo-lactic fermentation is done partly in barrel and partly in vat, and the ageing in barrel lasts 15 to 18 months, depending on the vintages.

TASTING NOTES
• Wonderful aromas of blackberry, vanilla spice and flowers follow through to a medium-bodied palate, with firm tannins and a chocolate and light fresh herb finish.
