WINE ESTATE
• Situated on the high plateau of Barsac, the estate of Château Piada mentioned in the “Hommages d’Aquitaine” in 1274 is one of the oldest vineyard of Barsac & Sauterne. Protected from winds off the Atlantic by the vast Landes forest, the vineyards of Graves and Sauternes stretch along a narrow band of land on the left bank of the Garonne river between Bordeaux to the north and Langon to the South.
SOIL
• Vineyards are primarily located on gravely terraces with a limestone sub-soil. The entire area has a temperate climate due to the presence of the river.
GRAPE VARIETY
• 70% Sémillon.
• 25% Sauvignon.
• 5% Muscadelle.
VINIFICATION
• Fermentation in oak barrels.
• 12 months in new oak barrels.
FOOD PAIRING
• This wine is great with foie gras or dessert chocolate.
TASTING NOTES
• The late harvest gives Sauterne & Barsac their absolutely unique characteristics.
• A golden color that deepens with age to that of antique gold.
• A bouquet of tropical fruit, honey, linden flowers and acacia with hints of almonds and spice.
• Especially round, well-balanced taste which develops into a full long aftertaste.
